Incorporating the performance of passive components into probabilistic risk assessments to support reactor life extension.

We draw upon a broad base of probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) expertise, materials science, and knowledge of reactor operations to further develop PRA methods, making it a more relevant tool to regulators and other decision makers.

Our work includes development of

  • Methodology for the new NRC Vogtle PRA, including elicitation techniques
  • Risk methods for the NRC's significance determination process
  • Cybersecurity risk methodology
